We have had a true love-hate relationship with English leather for decades.
We love English leather because it is very robust and one feels invincible in it. We hate this material because our seamstresses have to work so hard to process it.
It must have been similar for people in the 19th century, too. In England at that time, the workers used it to protect themselves against sparks from the blast furnaces. The leather apron made the sweaty work even more difficult and therefore they came up with the idea of protecting themselves with a strong material made of one-hundred per cent cotton, which the workers smeared with clay. This is how English leather got its name.
FHB is now taking this fantastic material in a new direction. In our "Ursprung"-collection >, we have been combining the historical material with classical and fashionable forms of jeans and work clothing. We have been using English leather to produce six models in this line: a Caban-jacket and guild vest for women with high-quality real horn buttons, absolutely indestructible Arbeitshose in the original jeans form, a lined work vest with a knitted collar and kangaroo pockets and fashionable drainpipe guild trousers with matte-black, galvanised zip fasteners for women and men.
Naturally all in black, all FHB.
