The U.S. Army contracted PrimaLoft to develop a synthetic down, which is also capable of warming when wet. Since then, the leading outdoor brands have chosen Primaloft as insulation for clothing, sleeping bags, shoes and gloves. It is also much easier to wash than down: Wash, dry, done.
