This is us.

Our collections are not brought to life by machines, but by people. We have people on board for whom making clothes is something special – more than just neatly sewn pieces of fabric and functioning zips. We love our products and are passionate about making the very best workwear.

We treat each other and our business partners with friendliness and respect. We listen, make honest statements and keep our promises. We don’t go to the cellar to laugh and a friendly smile or a nice answer are a matter of course for us. We are convinced that this makes the real difference.

Our values

A genuine, strong and lived corporate culture cannot be predetermined or described in a glossy brochure. It grows through daily actions over a long period of time. Everything we do at FHB follows a series of unifying values that run through our actions as a common thread. They may sound a little old-fashioned, but they are a solid basis for our success. And have been for over 80 years.

We are hard at work.

We are masters of our craft and work hard and tirelessly to produce the best workwear. We don't build castles in the air, but see ourselves as down-to-earth doers and don't wait for pigeons to fly into our mouths. Nothing comes from nothing.

We trust each other.

We focus on long-term relationships with our customers, suppliers and employees on an equal footing. Our common path is always characterised by mutual interest, honesty and fairness. Always and everywhere. It is important for us to have a clear profile: We are flexible, but not pliable and we are friendly, but not pushy. We keep our word and a handshake is worth more than any piece of paper.

We put our heart and soul into everything we do.

We are tinkerers, creatives, perfectionists and enablers, but above all we are textiles through and through. We love our craft and good design. Heart and soul is the joy with which we burn for our brand and our products day after day.

We go our own way with courage.

We do our thing and leave well-trodden paths behind. FHB will continue to stand for a pioneering spirit and the courage to break new ground. These paths are often a little rockier, but we are convinced that they lead to better results.

We have a good dose of creativity.

We are a creative, design-orientated company. During development, we endeavour to harmonise appealing design, functionality and durability. We create timeless, modern collections that will remain relevant for many years to come.

We are long-distance runners.

Our company is family-run and exactly the opposite of an anonymous dot-com. We have no interest in short-term profit maximisation and prefer to think in terms of generations.

Our claim

image

High quality but not out of the ordinary.

At FHB, exactly those things come together that are needed to create the best workwear: Decades of experience and a good portion of passion in the entire FHB team. Our aim is to make the best workwear – for every day from morning to night, for young and old, thick and thin. We work with the best suppliers and only use materials that we know will work in any weather and in any situation. You can’t make a good product with bad materials. We take the necessary time throughout the entire manufacturing process. We make no compromises. We check and test with a critical eye and a feel for the material. For us, making the best workwear for a wide range of applications also means not producing it at the expense of future generations.

In an age of mass-produced products, we are committed to perfect craftsmanship and the use of honest materials. We appeal to people who have a feel for quality and know exactly what they want and how they want it. They are all different, of course, but they also have something in common. FHB wearers are hard-working, have to work hard for their money and know that details make all the difference. And we know that our customers feel and appreciate this difference.

So far so good. Can’t high-quality workwear also look really casual? Yes. We believe that the people who wear our clothing don’t care what it looks like. Our design is different, classic but fashionable, not loud but highly recognisable. FHB garments have that little something extra that you feel when you wear them.

Our products

image

We listen, scrutinise, understand and learn.

In FHB’s in-house product development department, numerous products have seen the light of day in recent years. But we don’t do this alone in a quiet room. Our discerning customers have the same demands on their workwear as they do on their tools or colleagues. They are actively involved in our product development and have become a decisive factor. Honest criticism and their creative ideas help us to make our products that little bit better together.

We pay attention to every seam.

FHB is one of the few clothing companies in Germany that still trains tailors and develops the entire collection in-house, from design to series production. New products are created with a great deal of experience and attention to the smallest detail. We pay attention to every seam. The majority of products and product lines remain virtually the same over many years and sometimes decades. We prefer to refine the products that our customers already know and love rather than constantly replacing them with something else – FHB is timelessly good.

image

We test continuously.

We constantly test and check the physical properties of the raw materials and the finished garments. Abrasion resistance, durability, pilling, tear resistance, tensile strength, colour fastness, water column pressure and breathability are just some of the many qualities that we test in internal test procedures or at recognised institutes. We also have a large network of field testers from various professional groups who scrutinise all prototypes – and we are only satisfied when our test users also consider the products to be good. In this way, we can ensure that our products deliver what we promise.

Completely thought through. Lovingly made.

We understand our craft. Just like you know your craft. Whether in our own sewing workshop at our company headquarters in Spenge with over 45 experienced seamstresses or at our production partners, our products are handmade with great skill.

The basic materials and precise workmanship are the key to robustness and durability. For example, we have chosen YKK for our zips, Amann for our sewing thread and Kindermann from Ibbenbüren or Kettelhack from Rheine for our fabrics. You can’t make good workwear from bad materials.

Maxi. The product that stands for FHB like no other.

image

Elasticated between guild and work clothing.

Our Maxi is the “yes, but” turned into fabric. Yes, we are always open to new ideas. But we also don’t want to lose sight of our guild tradition. Combining innovation and tradition skilfully is a real challenge. Yes, but: we have managed it.

With our new Maxi guild trousers, we are transferring the fit of the Leo work trousers to the guild sector. But we’re not copying it one-to-one, we’re adapting the leg width to suit the carpenters and simply leaving out the reflective strips. This is how tradition becomes innovative.

Our footprint

image

The new buzzword is sustainability and nobody can actually hear it any more. Everyone wants to be like that and of course everyone is. The production of clothing always has an impact on the environment – despite all efforts, there is no way around this. Because in the end, valuable resources are always needed for production. We are determined to further reduce the impact that the production of our clothing has on our environment. By conserving precious resources and thinking through every step of production. That is why we have taken numerous measures over the years to reduce our footprint. We are proud of the things we have already achieved. Nevertheless, we are working every day to improve. We don’t wash ourselves green and we won’t lie to you or to ourselves. That’s our promise.
